Birkdale North Primary School is situated in the residential suburb of Birkdale on Auckland's North Shore.
Our school was officially opened on October 2nd, 1965 by the Birkenhead MP, Mr Norman King. The roll stood at 175 and the founding principal was Mr Bill Barris. Peak roll numbers were in 1975 when 745 students were attending.
In 1972, after four years of planning. fundraising and negotiating the school pool opened. In recent years a shade cloth and umbrella has been added creating a much more sun smart area for both pupils and the community alike to enjoy.
2003 saw the opening of the much-needed school hall. It has proved an invaluable asset to both the school and community. It has been used for prizegivings, school productions and many successful fundraisers.
Birkdale North Primary has strong relationships with the surrounding schools in the Beachhaven-Birkdale cluster. There are a wide number of daycare and kindergartens which act as feeders to our school. The majority of Birkdale North students continue on to Birkdale Intermediate School and then to Birkenhead College.
