Brief History of Birkdale North
Our school was officially opened on 2nd October 1965 by the Birkenhead MP, Mr Norman King. The roll stood at 175 and the founding principal was Mr Bill Barris.
Peak roll numbers were in 1975 when 745 students were attending.
We are now a boutique school with a current roll of 125.
In 1972, after four years of planning. fundraising and negotiating the school pool opened. This is a fantastic asset and used by both students and community during the summer months.
2003 saw the opening of the much-needed school hall. It has proved an invaluable asset to both the school and community. It has been used for prizegivings, school productions and many successful fundraisers.
Birkdale North Primary has strong relationships with the surrounding schools in the Beachhaven-Birkdale cluster. There are a wide number of daycare and kindergartens which act as feeders to our school. The majority of Birkdale North students continue on to Birkdale Intermediate School and then to Birkenhead College
Over the years several of Birkdale North's past pupils have gone on to do extraordinary things.
If you are a past pupil then please email in your stories and let us know how you are going!
